Employment Tribunals

These exist to allow the employee recourse to the law if they feel that they have been unfairly treated or discriminated against or feel that their employment rights have been otherwise breached.  In all cases it is recommended that both parties attempt to reconcile their differences by negotiation, sometimes with the assistance of ACAS officers, before taking their case to a full tribunal hearing.  Whilst most employment disputes fall within the jurisdiction of the Employment Tribunals, some cases (eg. those involving allegations of breach of confidence or restrictive covenants) are dealt with in the County Court or High Court.
